Having secured a V8 private plate I proccede to Halfords (big mistake) to have them made up and fitted. After a huge amount of time the young lad who made up the plates conceded that he could not fit the front plate as one screw hole was bigger than the other?!

I have since been advised to pack the insert on the front bumper to allow a new plate to be stuck on. In the meantime I have my plate screwed on with heavy duty Merc fixing screws.

Has anyone had a similar experience, and what is the best solution?

I just re-drilled two new holes to fit my new plates. Just made an undersized hole and used large self-tappers to fix the plate.
Alternatively there should be enough flat surface to use self-adhesive mounting strips. They stick pretty well.

I had to replace my front plate after debris damage on the M3. I had to redrill the front to match the positioning of the black letters in the new plate - the reg is legit by the way with proper letter spacing but with a description of the car under the reg letters and the England flag. I also used adhesive strips to position the plate first. There are plenty of plate suppliers on Ebay. Hope this helps
