Hi all

When i turned the 'Ro off this evening I got a "service oil" indication and a picture of the oil can.

Checked the oil level and alls fine there, oil preasure seems normal when driving etc at around the 3 mark.

Car was only serviced last week (though they did some how manage to not connect everything back up correctly so the car was saying "service imediatly" when I got it home).

So what causes the service oil indication? Is the oil too thin that they have used possibly?

Won't be paying for any more services again, first time in my life I ever had and not only do I feel some what fleeced by the experiance I now have to wonder just what the hell they did for the money!

Cheers guys

Gav

You cant "tell" the car its had a service to prevent this occuring. It just brings it up when it thinks it should.

either way though assuming it has indeed been serviced and the oil changed, you can just reset this indicator right ?

Mine is stating 35,000 mile service indicator?!?!? I thought it was every 10,000 miles ie my next one should be 30,000. Oh and it says Service Due Soon, it was done 2,000 miles ago.

The computer really has a mind of it's own.

Another favourite is the check engine after doing a long drive and stopping, then restarting relatively soon after.

This has been discussed before. The Service indicator some how got missed by Holden/Vx during the translation from Oz to UK. It still operates on the Oz criteria. Service cycle in Oz is 10,000km with warning appearing 1,000km prior. So expect it to appear about 600ish miles before each multiple of 6,000 miles - 6,12,18,24,30,36,etc. Yep, a pain in the @$$, but I don't think there is anything that be can be done, except ignoring it, resetting and remembering to service the car every 10,000 miles. It will be right 20% of the time, tho'
