The FK motors in my collection are rated as 135bhp, the FT as 165. Whats the difference can an FK be uprated and how much more is available at a reasonable cost?
Anyone any ideas?

I think the FK is the 'Low pressure Turbo' variant (running 6 psi, rather than the 8-10psi of the FT). I think its also known as a low friction engine, meaning the pistons are different to the FTs. Also, if they are post 1995 (i think), they have oil squirters on the base of the pistons, which helps avoid detonation.

The Easy way to make more power, is more boost. Plumb in a manual boost controller, and tune for max smoke. Not the most long lived method of engine tuneing though.

NB: this is all based on 'Book' Learning, rather than any actuall experience of tuning these engines. Best bet is to go somewhere like www.turbobricks.com or http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/ , and lurk for a bit.
