Elise S2 Heater
Discussion
Hi
I'm new here, and I'm looking to buy an S2 Elise - probably a 111S. I've never owned a Lotus or anything like this before.
I've got a question about the heater. Is it normal for the heater to pump out hot air even when it's set to cold? I've seen 3 cars this week - the first was driven without the hood so I didn't notice this, the second I didn't drive, but in the third today we left the roof on and as soon as the engine was up to temperature the dashboard vents were pumping hot air, so it go really hot. Is this normal, or something I should be worrying about?
Cheers!

Seems it's not that unusual, and possibly fixable too

This seems to be a weak point on all S2 Lotus Elise and Exiges The Resistor and the Motor contacts will keep going every year or two if the car is drive in heavy rain and expect a £ 600 bill from a dealer to sort it out.
Lotus has known about this issue and I am not aware that they have done anything about it. It failed on my Exige three times in the couple of years I had the car & it has also failed for the new owner as well.

They have, two things, one a service item - drill holes. Also AFAIK the resistor pack now sits on top instead of on the bottom.Gassing Station | Elise/Exige/Europa/340R | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
