Just been looking through everyone's favourite online auction site (you know the one, ahem!) and there are some rather nice-looking 'long' Exige/Elise diffusers on there at a very reasonable price (£99.00 or best offer)!

(No, I'm not the seller, but the guy seems to be getting little response as he's had to relist, which seems a shame as so many people seem to talk about them on here and elsewhere!)

Come to think of it, I might just buy one myself!

Thank you for your opinion gentlemen. bigmouth

No-one was asking you to buy one, simply pointing those who might want one in the right direction.

And in the wind-tunnel tests on an S2 exige, they substantially reduced drag and improved the downforce.

Not everything is about cosmetics. I like them. I have one. laugh

I had a few issues with the front going light at high speed - solved that with front splitters and put on an extended diffuser to keep the aero balance - it is just about visible in the pic. The S1 versions do look a bit OTT.

The ride height looks strange in the pic, but the car is cornerweighted for driver, so the offside looks higher.

Because of the different rear end treatment on the S1 Exige (compared to the S1 Elise), they don't look out of place.

Yes, I completely agree with you re the S1 exige, which in my opinion was designed by god (probably).

I should have qualified my statement - I was referring to the S1 elise. On the S2, apart from exhaust exit position on k series cars, the back of an exige and the back of an elise are the same.

I think the Edwards one looks great!

My understanding was that even on a ride height of 100/110 the Elise was still too far off the ground for the diffuser to be really effective??

That's true when it comes to serious downforce, but on an elise you are talking fairly small figures anyway - a few kilograms here and there. What it does do is clean up the airflow underneath (along with a couple of other underbody tweaks) and reduce drag. The wind-tunnel testing done on MrDemon's car and Junk's car did show a bit of downforce being created by the underbody and diffuser.

I don't think I will be able to feel the difference in absolute terms, but when I had just a front splitter, the back end would go really light on the high speed corners - more to do with aero balance I suspect. Diffuser fixed that.

Fugly as buck.
It isnt all about finite performance improvements that in the real world will make sod all difference.

The only I have seen them look good is with a 2bular zorst and the rear grill removed. (like Shangani's and Speedyellows)

and if you come on to an open forum touting your product and dont like a bit of critisim then you have clearly mistaken the meaning "open forum"

Thanks Shangers. I've already convinced myself that I 'need' a splitter (laugh). I suppose that'll give me an excuse to do something with the back end toobiggrin

sorry about the divert but I would be interested to know if you are still using your s2 everyday after all the work you have had done to it shangers, or do you keep it for track work only these days?

Ps love the big difuser but only when mated with the panel eliminater kit and GT3 style exhaust, I beleive it completes the 'whole' Look!

I agree, think they look really good when teamed up with the GT3 exhaust and RPE - similar look to the GT racers.

Last time I saw Shangers on track he was having fun stretching the legs on his Honda'd beast on Brands GP ... where are you m8???? driving

Hi BJ - lurking about as usual. Yup, the car is still my daily drive, though I might take over my wife's old megane as a work hack.

I went the full monty with the back:

Main idea was to get rid of heat.
