Hi Guys

Can anyone help here.

This car is coming up for auction soon and I wondered if anybody knew anything about its history. The info I have to date is as follows:

TVR Tuscan 4.0 Speed Six. Reg:- FA51YXU. Date of first registration:- 21/09/01. Warranted miles, 11189. 4 service stamps. Last service, 01/07.

I know about the problems with the early speed 6 engines - anything else I should look out for?

What would you expect to pay for this car?

I would not pay to much for a nearly 8 year old car with only 4 service stamps (about 4 services missing) has it had a rebuild????
if not it is worth about £14,000.(this is just my thoughts) you would be better of looking in the classifieds

I bought a Tuscan off ebay.

I recommend getting the buyers Tuscan guide and giving him a grilling over the phone using this as your template. View it if you can.

Any dodgy answers then walk away - a couple of major repairs and you'll soon spend any money you saved!

I spent over an hour on the phone to the owner before I bought mine and if it was not what he said it was i was going to walk away....as it worked out the car was mint and I am a happy buyer!

For me to buy a 2000/2001 Tuscan it would have to either be cheap enough for me to expect a rebuild (under £12k) or have had a recent rebuild from a recognised TVR specialist.

There's a picture of it on the bca website (looks to be: GTS blue, blue carpets, magnoila or portland with blue inserts interior, 18" spiders, white indicators). If you phone bca newport and try and buy it before the auction, you might get a feel for what its reserve is. I guess they're looking for the CAP value at circa £17k.

I didnt realise it was a bca auction.

I reckon dealers will steer well clear - you could end up with a real bargin!!

Mentally stick the money for a rebuild on the price and see what interest it gets. They are going for £14k on ebay at the moment - possibly less risky (but still risky)

There are several immaculate Tuscans FSH, upgraded suspension, rebuilds etc on classifieds for very good prices at the moment.

I have been to a bca auction before and was surprised to find that things were not that cheap - roughly Parkers 'poor' condition on price guides.

When you consider you cannot drive it first etc

In auction , given the (lack of) service history 12- 15k it has very low miles indeed.
