Does any body else have a two tone painted Monaro? My black VXR has the body and boot spoiler in one shade of black, and the front & rear bumpers and skirts in another. Normal or is it a cut and shut??eek

Yes, the Yellow ones are pretty much the same - well, mine is. Not sure of Holden's production methods (ie if the plastic components are made/sprayed by an outside sub-contractor) in which case paint batches can vary.

Or, might be the differences in the paint used for plastc trim and for metal panels. I have been told there is a difference but can't rememeber what.

That's a relief! I won't bother washing mine again cos the dirt hides the bad paint matching....

And mine.... only notice when polishing it up, but a definite difference on the plastic to metal colours.
Odessey 05 CV8.
First though was they use different paint shops for the plastic components. Or maybe the plastic (guessing black underneath???) makes the colour look darker?

Same on r8, in certain light after washing the plastic parts appear to be a different shade of red!!

I think you'll find the aging/fading is different between the plastic and metal painted finishes as well.

They have to use different base coats/primers as the adhesive properties of steel and plastic are different. The problem is that this can effect the final finish.

It makes you wonder why most other manufacturers can get a good colour match on plastic and steel parts. Even other Vauxhalls manage to avoid looking like patchwork quilts!

you want to look more closely at the lighter metallic shades available on astras and vectras if you think they're okay. a lot I have seen are very different between the metal and plastic finishes if the suns on them.

You should go to LS1GTO.com and look there for two tone combinations.
