Guys,

Our party has a bit of a problem, the main driver (and owner) of our support vehicle (a Dodge DayVan camper wagon thing) has just been taken to hospital this morning so won't be able to come. He's ok but this now means none of the named drivers are able to drive it in France, because the main driver isn't going.

So, anyone know of a company that can cover a non-owner of the vehicle, fully comp in France for a week? We're leaving on Wednesday morning so time is of the essence!!

What a PITA having spent all yesterday stickering the thing up:

Help!!

The main driver will need to contact his insurers and let them know that you will be driving the vehicle. No reason why this should be a problem?

Cheers for the links but TempCover won't cover it and DayInsure say:

25. Can I insure a motorhome on Dayinsure
No. Campervans and motorhomes are not acceptable vehicles under this type of policy

Main driver's insurer's won't cover anyone else on the vehicle unless the main driver is going too frown

Still looking!

Is a quick change of ownership out of the question?

as for the dodge van its too difficult to sort getting insurance. spent the last 2 hours phoning around and due to needing only a week insurance and that its a import not founf on many insurance companys books

Was thinking along the same lines.

- change of registered keeper
- new 'keeper' sorts out insurance
- takes out policy with relevant named drivers
- cancels under the 14 day cooling off period
- only cost is the 'admin' charge from the insurance company for cancelling the policy

May not be cheap, but would mean you're all legally insured. Would also avoid any issues if stopped in France. "Is this votre vehicule monsieur ?" "Well, funny you should ask....."
