I have just been done for speeding on the A16 between Calais and Boulogne.
204KM in a 130KM zone.
The fine was 750 Euros and I nearly had my car confiscated.

Needless to say the bds are out there so be careful.
These frog Gendarmes just love pulling over speeding rosbiffs.

I think thats fair play really, you wouldn't still be able to drive over here.

However, I think I'll be sticking to the limit this year frown.

At that sort of speed, I think you could almost count them as friendly, I would have thought you would have been walking after that smile

The only way to be sure of only sustaining wallet damage is to keep it below 100mph.

A steady 80 might be the order of the day with the odd little blip maybewink

In my defence it was 6:30am and there was no traffic around.
However, I know I was in the wrong and yes if it had happened in the UK the punishment would have been far worse.

With the exchange rate this year those fines are going up! Look, your safe, you have you car, pocket is lighter - could be a lot worse.

204 in a 130… What did you expect? I think you were luck to get away with that. You’d be looking at 6 points and a 30 day ban here for that. ANY Speeding on the Calais to Le Mans route on Le Mans weekend is just asking for trouble IYAM.

Just off the train or boat, see an open road, and go for it...I think you're lucky to keep your motor bearing in mind you were in France during LM weekend.

Have a friend who lives in the Alps who has told me they are particularly hot on speeding this year. In fairness, I've heard every year I've been to Le Mansa that they are getting more and more strict, but this year Carol warned me that they are pulling people at less than 30 over the limit, (previously I'd heard as long as you weren't daft you tended to get over looked).

As Burriana says, stick to a steady speed with the occasional blip..

Is that 30 clicks over or old money?

ps: No probs with a bed at Ashford Si. We are aiming to arrive between 6-7pm and mosey into town for a few drinks and something to eat, although ... What are you doing with your car? As you cannot leave it at the Travel Lodge.

We left Ron's down some random street somewhere in Ashford suburbia last year, though that was a fairly annonymous 3-series saloon.

May well be easier for you to grab a lift from London with one of the others if you have a place there (sorry, lost track of where you are living these days but I recall you saying something about staying at yours in London?)

Your call smile

30 kph over on the peage used to be ok as long as you're not being a tt, so upto 160kmh on a dry road tended to not get a tug. I might know someone who accidentally passed a gendarme at about that speed on their way to Monaco, who got a thumbs up and a big grin.. Carol's been pulled at less than that, so between 130 and 160 in the dry.

Stick to less than 100 in real money might result in a tug and a low fine, (can't remember if that's 30 or 60 Euro).

As I said though, heard this every year, but this is the 1st time from a French national..

Got you re Ashford. Doubt I'll be able to get to you much before last orders, but I'll try. Will be in the anonymous econnoskoda so ought to be ok to dump it anywhere.

I am fairly certain our little convoy is intending to stick to the limits and enjoy the views!

Give us a shout when you arrive and you may as well drive into town so we can find somewhere for the car. You do not want to leave it until the morning!
