Hi guys,

My folks are looking at buying a new Mini Cooper (no trade in - just cash) and wondered if there are any discounts available if you push the dealers - know they've been pretty stingy before but wondering if the economy has made them a bit more...erm...flexible with pricing/options?

Secondly, some Mini's appear to have a thin pinstripe on the outside of the main stripes

...is this a dealer option?

You wont get much of a discount, don't expect much over £100 or 6 months tax, as for the stripes, i think they're a standard dealer option.

Dealers will generally throw in the TLC (5 year inclusive servicing package, worth £150) and will be flexible on dealer fit options, particularly so the labour charge for fitting them, but the price of the base car and factory fit options seems to be pretty firm.

IIRC the vinyl stripes can be specified as either a factory or a dealer fit option.

When we got our Cooper S about a year ago we had the TLC pack thrown in for free (£250 normally). You might do better now though!

Re. the stripes. If you get factory fitted stripes, you get the little pinstripe, if you get dealer fitted stripes, you don't i.e. its just one solid block. I know this because the wife insisted we got the dealer fitted ones as she didn't want the white pinstripe rolleyes
