Transmission Range Sensor A4 Multi Tronic

Light on dash comes on intermittently ,turn ignition of/on light goes of .Take the car 19tdi 2004 130hp to gearbox specialist He say's it's a common fault £300 labour £600 for control box as sensor a small part of the control box can not be fixed . So has any one else had this problem and is it right that you have to have the whole control box replaced .

Yes, correct. The range sensor is part of the control box at the end of gearbox. Quite common fault..........
