Folding mirror question

Hi all,

I have a super XK8. Unfortunately whilst the mirrors fold in without any trouble, the drivers door mirror folds out too far - almost so its parallel with the car. Does anyone know how to stop this!?

What I remember worked for me was to disconnect the battery, which seemed to reset the movement.
