What wattage of headlight bulbs can my chimp take without melting?

In my experience, not much more without undertaking the wiring mods. (do a search on this)

Better way is to use the 50% brighter replacements from you local Auto Parts place. RING automotive and philips are the biggest brands

Some people seem to be lucky.

Mine had bigger bulbs when I got it and I didn't know until all the lights packed up. Melted the connector!

Could have caused a nasty fire, so I wouldn't risk it.

You keep the nearside wiring intact (direct to bulb), but take original offside feed to activate a relay which switches on new power feed from starter motor (as it's nearest live feed). A fiver and an hours work. Then you can then use Philips Vision Plus bulbs or Philips Ralleye bulbs which are fierce but not road legal (but who's to know).
