a few pics from silverstone renault race day

Chris, those are nice. You know I really really wish I'd just gone for it about 10 years ago and bought one of those little monsters rather than being more sensible.
Sure it was a dodgy old Renault that would likely have cost me a fortune in maintenance. Plus such a short wheel base and mid engined would surely have been interesting handling but... Funnily enough I do have a hankering for the V6 Clio, sure it's less mad and not really practical but it certainly has more character than many hot hatches currently around.
Chances of importing / running one over here, absolutely zero
Moral of the story do be a bit crazy occasionally

Good plan
Bit of difference in cost between the two if I recall correctly. Those 205 T16's are mighty pricey are they not? Mind you if my aging memory serves me the rally versions were up to about 400bhp on full boost towards the end of Group B
although the road going versions were a lot less, more like 200bhp.

Don't forget about the maintenance on them as well, lots of the parts are becoming hard to track down, same as spare windscreens for the Alfa SZ's (another of my all time favourite cars). For true Group B madness an RS200 or SWB Quattro would be great but they are also v expensive now due to limited numbers.
Maybe an ordinary proper Quattro would be the way to go? I just have this nasty feeling that a more modern machine would actually be a better steer. These were machines of their time and I don't think I ever want to shatter that image I have of them. There's almost nothing I have heard that beats the sheer ferocity of aural assault of a flame spitting SWB Quattro at full chat. The only car I can remember the noise just as well is the Mac F1 which I saw racing, that was a simply glorous howl.
