Try as I might I haven't yet seen an S with the same glove box as mine.
There is no catch to hold it shut, no lock or button on the outside. I have tried a magnetic catch but that didn't work. How is the d
d thing supposed to stay shut? >>> Edited by haggishead on Tuesday 26th August 23:14
I have the same type of glove box and mine is shut by a spring loaded mechanism like the one Psychobert mentioned.
The only problem with this push to lock, push to unlock mechanism on my car is that when you accelerate hard and then shift gear, the glove box flips open.
I am sad to say I don't know where to get a new clip. Mine is made of black plastic. I'll have a look to see if I can find a part number on it.

Don't modwise do an electronic lock thingumy...?
Looked at their web site, not sure how that would work. Any advice?
I did find by trawling through old threads that RS online sell spring loaded catches (part no 245-5531) that should work - I have ordered a couple, will see how it goes.
Thanks guys

My S2 doesn't have a catch on the glove box just spring loaded hinges, maybe try that.

Thats the thing I was trying to describe last night..
Yeah my S2 has the same hinge, I think they are the same as Kitchen unit spring hinges, but they work fine, its worth a try!

I've not seen the catch but there's a good chance it was made by Southco
www.southco.com/
Hope this helps Mark
Yep it is a southco part - i got it from www.rswww.com, part no 245-5531 - fits the bracket perfectly!
Sorry I didn't report this back for other members!

I had a quick look at my glove box some days ago. The latch is a Southco part. I think that I have found the right part on Southco´s website (see the link below). There are three versions of it and I don't know yet which one I've got.
I'll get back as soon as I've done some measurements.

I should have added a picture to this thread a long time ago. As I borrowed a camera today to take some pictures of my cylinder head I took these as well.
Mechanism mounted in place:
Mechanism taken out of the bracket:
I still haven't measured the size of the mechanism, but I'll try to get it done soon.
Cheers

Thanks Dave!
I'll try to find out which one of the three different sizes I need. Actually the mechanism that I have now works fine, but maybe a new one with tighter springs would prevent the glove box to flip open when I shift gear at high acceleration.
I also have a contact here in Sweden who helped me with the roof latches. But I'll let you know Dave. Free samples are always nice.
Thanks again.

Since I posted some incorrect information regarding this subject recently I have to post a new message again.
The three different latches found on Southco´s website (if you follow the link previously posted) come in three versions. The size of the latch is the same on all three, but they are made to be mounted in frames of various thickness. The frame on my S3C is about 1 mm thick, so the correct latch for my car is:
Part name: E4 Touch Latch
Part number: E4-10-201-10
It can be ordered from Southco or some of their distributors.
