if you saw a 111s advetised, traveled 130 miles to see it , it looked like a 111s, the seller told you it was a 111s, you bought it and got a reciept for a 111s only to find out 1 week later its a sports tourer with 111s stickers on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(2003 private sale) (theoreticaly)(spelt badly but i'm fu**ing angry)

I'd be a bit pissed off as well, but other than that I don't think theres a lot more you can do really. Maybe exact some verbal revenge. But, then, maybe the previous owner didn't know any better either?

Don't suppose the V5 specifies anything that could have been checked?

If you've got a receipt for a 111S and you've not received one, it was advertised as a 111S, then you should have received a 111S. Ask for your money back, if they aren't willing, speak to a solicitor and they'll give you their opinion on if it is worth pursuing, as would citizens advice.

I hope it really was too cheap to be true.

I'm sorry to hear this, and I'm sorry I'm not much help.

Works both ways though. You'd have to have jumped into the purchase without research because there are plenty of visual cues that a 111S really is a 111S. The spider wheels (in case of S2, but even S1 had different wheels). S1 had rear spoiler. S2 had a very plush interior. Both S1/S2 have an engine which says VVC on it.

nothing on v5 but i have a eec certificate of conformity which states its a type111, its got the full 111s s interior and air con, it was the oval exhaust tips that made me suspicious, suspicions confirmed by westovers who have serviced it and supplied it to the person i bought it off. yes i got it for a good price and love the car but its not what i wanted or what i thought i was getting!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Have you got a copy of the ad Darren?
I'd call the vendor, as Westover sold him a Sports Tourer he know what the car is and he's misrepresented his car.
I'd ask him for the mkoney back within 7 days or take him to court.

Erm, sale of goods act? If it was not as described then it doesn't conform to contract and its money back time regardless of what he thought it was.

Go see a solicitor, I would as it would royally piss me off!

Part of me wants to state the obvious and wonder why you didnt have a poke about in the engine bay....

BTW: it wasn't this one by chance?

If it was I looked at the ad and thought it was too cheap.

Thats a good price for a sports tourer, let alone a 111s.

I'd do one of two things.

1. Just put it down to experience and learn to love it.
2. Go back to the seller with all guns blazing.

Either way it's a big decision and one you need to be sure you can live with.

nope, not that one, to be homest i had a seried 1 for 4 1/2 years and have never seen a vvc engine before so didnt know they were visably different, i really like the car and would be happy if i could get the difference in value between a 111s and a st back (to spend on upgrades), how much do you think that would be and what are my chances. hi tim yes do have copy of advert thank god

What a c*nt who sold that! That's bang out of order.

Presumably though the give away would of been the sport tourer not having the forward facing air vents inside.

I thought the Sports Tourer ended in 02 & the 111s was the first to have the forward facing vents ? I thought it was then just the basic S & 111s which had them from that point on.
