Was using the car ok Mon and Tues this week with no issues at all, plenty of fuel in the tank but just went to use it now and as soon as the ignition is turned on the MIL light comes on and the fuel pump doesn't prime.

Battery seems ok, remote locking works ok, alarm seems to arm ok. The sudden failure at turn-on suggests something electric/electronic.

Any ideas? Fuse?

Agreed.
Under dash on passenger side. Undo screws that hold the "pocket" in position which will then drop down.
This should then reveal the button which is a white bodied affair with the reset button facing forward.
Paul.

Well, I think I found it? Behind the 'glove box' panel, on the right hand side, but black with a rubber shrouded end pointing to the front of the car - is this it? Pushed the rubber in but nothing seemed to click back into place. Switched on, MIL light still on sadly

Check fuses may give same symptom as inertia switch if on fuel circuit and may also may put on MIL lamp, dont know for certain though never had this happen frown only presuming.

Sorted!!

Replugged/reset the ECU - pump primes and there's no MIL light now - and it starts and runs as usual

You may find that the two metal relays on the fly loom are on there way out, these are quite common to fail. One is fuel pump the other power to ecu and injectors etc.
