Just wondering about specs...
Discussion
Say you were on a road all laden with SPECS, and you were averaging a speed that was above the posted limit and of at least 3 pts and £60 rating.
What would happen if you bimbled along past all of the SPECS cameras, tripping each one in series?
If there were 10 cameras on the road, then would you end up with 15 points and a £300 fine, plus a ban through totting up, or would it be treat as one incident and you'd go away with 3pts and a £60 wonder?

According to www.speed-trap.co.uk a whole bank of cameras, if grouped together, count as one 'section'. The reason for the multiple cameras is there is more chance of catching you out. But, if you consistantly go over the limit, you'll only be done once per 'section'.

Does that mean that by implication if it is two sections, say two sets of road works, then two separate offences occur, hence double pts & double fine?
If so, where is the natural justice in that? Where is the feedback to mend one’s ways? Not even a camera flash as feedback. Same applies to other systems, eg vans.
Or can one, like a burglar, ask to have other offences taken into consideration? Increased fine fair enough but one lot of points.
Author’s Note: I’m not supporting speeding, just have difficulty with cameras as they are being applied.
If I remember correctly, as per the M25 variable speed limit, if you are 'flashed' by, say, three cameras, you get 'done' three times as each camera is guarding a variable speed limit, albeit a continuous one.
So if you went through two 'sections' of SPECS whilst speeding, you in theory could be done twice. I do believe, though, that people have had multiple flashes combined into one fine by the courts IF they had a good excuse for going so fast over such a long distance... most people it seems do indeed get the accumulative points for each 'flash'.
A bugger, eh? I say, find the longest stretch of SPECS on a 70 limit and do 99 the whole way.
