Time trials and nutrition
Discussion
Hi all,
I've started doing evening 10 mile time trials, I'm in the process of slowly gaining fitness and loosing weight.
My question is when is the best time to eat in preperation for an evening time trias (7.30 start)?
So far I've tried to eat a good dinner of pasta the night before and a light lunch (sandwich and banana) then maybe a banana or two a couple of hours before.
Any tips would be welcome, I want to fuel my self up but don't want to bugger up my solw yet steady weight loss through the rest of the week?.
p.s I tend to do the thursday night tt's at podimore near yoevil, anyone else had a go on that one? I'm down to 24.07 on a blustery day

I made it to the first one of the season - which was on the 5-mile course through Yeovilton - but haven't made it away from work in time ever since.
If you're doing 24s then you don't need any advice on nutrition from anyone on here...but a couple of bananas half-an-hour before the start might make you feel stronger.

I woudl havethought you needed slightly more at Lunchtime especially as the season progresses and the distances become longer & hillier....
btw just started and 24s on a blustery day...keep going!!
Not to sure I want to do any longer ones as I'm realy having fun with the format of the 10's. turn up, blast it out and go home, doesn't take up too much of your evening. I did a hilly one last night on the old a30 towards exeter, howling wind on the way out and the road is rough as anything, a few short climbs too, struggled a little to get a 25mins deadbtw just started and 24s on a blustery day...keep going!!
I've only done five so far but I'm starting to prefer the dual carriage way courses and getting the hang of how hard to push.
Bloody good fun though, cheap too

For an evening 10 (or 25) I do not change my diet / eating patterns in any way. Having said that I usually eat in the evening after the time my evening time trials run.

No, I was there at the beginning of April - lovely balmy spring evening.
May make it tonight - grey SAAB estate and black Planet-X Stealth - but you'll haveat least four minutes on me.
I thought I saw you this evening waiting to start.....turns out this chap (riding a planet x) hasn't a clue what pistonheads is and kinda looked like I'd insulted him May make it tonight - grey SAAB estate and black Planet-X Stealth - but you'll haveat least four minutes on me.

Shame you didn't make it.
It was a slow evening with a strong cross wind, I managed a 24.40 but it was hard going, it left me in 5th overall so I was still chuffed with what i managed but you didn't miss much in terms of conditions!
