Hi all,

I was just quoted £1850 + VAT from an Independant to replace my clutch on a 360 Manual.
Apparently the clutch itself is £1100. I thought that sounded a bit pricey so I looked on Eurospares and got thoroughly confused..
There are 4 listings of 'complete clutch' under F360. One is £454 and the other 3 are £936.
I can't quite work out why there are 4 different clutches - am I being thick?
Mine is a 1999 model.
I'm sure it was rather a lot less last time it was replaced 50,000 kilometers ago driving

Thanks all

Hi Bebs

Is that Verdi by chance- They quoted me the same price a while back and that was very expensive. I was getting quotes nearer £1100+vat.

The problem is there was a change to the bolt patterns (went 4 to 6) and this could add to the price. Also make absolutely sure they check the release bearing (at minimum have all the seals changed as fluid can leak past these and its another gearbox out job to put right).

Para, yes it was Verdi.
Where did you go in the end then? Don't really want to fork out £1850 + VAT if its £1100 elsewhere..
Appreciate input from anyone that have had clutch done recently thumbup

I used QV in Ascot who were fine but insisted on using main dealer parts which made them slightly expensive (but still cheaper than Verdi) and really did seem to know what they were doing (and in fairness tried to solve the problems I was having with the clutch by means other than replacement).

As I said- make sure those seals are good- When they finally took the gearbox out to replace the clutch, they found it to be virtually new. Whowever had fitted it, either damaged the seals or didnt replace already damaged seals- so it was a full 11 hours of work to change some poxy £10 seals. I had the release bearing changed by way of precaution.

Thanks mate - I've just been told its 10 hours labour to change the clutch by my independant. £2174 inc VAT just seems a bit steep to me..

Try Lancaster's Colchester they offer a discount to over 4 year old Ferrari(and for under 4 year old are the same price as your indi) they will more than likely pick the car up from you as well.

A Clutch and Clutch bearing all fitted was about £1200 from the place i go to in Yorkshire. Thats an F1 Clutch.

Try Dave at http://www.scuderiasalesandspares.co.uk/ if you want to source one yourself

I would use Grimaldi engineering to do the work as they are excellent.

For parts you can try Lancasters a they will often give 10% off parts prices if you phone and ask nicely. Personally, from experience, I wouldnt use Lancasters to replace it.

I would recommend Phil at QV or Dave @ Scuderia, for the parts, QV will do good value work and they do know the cars well, Mike Stirland is probably one of the best but prices will be warmer and don't forget a lot of independants will not fit parts not obtained by themselves if they are not OEM as they cannot guarantee their work if the part fails (the who's to blame syndrome) Sometimes its worth paying a little more to get it done right.

Have you used Lancaster's recently?
Several years ago I used them and the standard was very poor and prices expensive compared to others so went elswhere. This year I contacted them for servicing and a couple of other things (think they may have changed hands since I last used them). They have upped the game now and must say that they are both efficient, very helpful and reasonable IMHO. They also do a very rare thing when it comes to garages they phone you back.
You do have to take as you find.

In respect of Lancastes I have used them in the past. They missed somethings and then wanted to change other things that didnt need changing. As a result I wont be giving them another chance. In addition I was recently standing near their service department (had been in to purchase a part) about closing time and saw the way they treated customers cars! I wouldn't ever leave a car with them after that. There service levels may have improved by now, but I wont be finding out as I wont be giving them another chance.

The care and service levels I get from Grimaldi mean that I wouldnt go anywhere else now.
