And because we let them in. As a Polish immigrant said with a shrug: 'If you have too many immigrants, close the borders*'. You can't beat that simple logic (although the EU can)

I'm so bored with this sort of thing, hindsight is not what we need in a government.
Labour should have forseen this and put controls in place as did the majority of other countries in the EU. With English being the second language that most people from overseas learn, it's no wonder they come here. It's not their fault for all these problems.
If the government could get most the workshy scroungers off benifits and into jobs there would be no reason to have immigration in the numbers that there has been.

Or they realise that alot of migrants are going home anyway, that fewer and fewer are coming as the value of the £ falls and a recession sets in. And what they want to do is dress up an anticipated sharp decline in immigration as a result of deliberate policy as opposed to economic incompetance.
