Selling my Chimaera at the moment, things seem to be pretty quiet on the sales inquiries front, I know I'm not overpriced (the other way if anything) but wondered if it was a general thing, due to the weather, fuel prices or anything else? Anyone else finding this? Oh, and if you're reading this thinking about making me a daft offer... please don't! Had enough of those from the traders...

Just be interested to know that's all...

Market for pretty much all makes is very slow at present so I'd expect a niche market car like a TVR to be very hard to shift. Guess it depends how desperate you are to sell as to whether or not you price your car according to the market.

I think everyone has 'daily mail fever' and is waiting for what ever is going to happen to the stock market/housing market/mortgages/interest rates/government/fuel prices etc.

Just a bad time to sell I'd imagine.

I remember a friend of mine saying he was waiting for the house crash to buy...that was nearly 7 years ago and he is still renting. I've moved twice since then!!

Life is too short to wait to see is paranoia materialises into reality.

Have you pointed out in your advert the tax bracket?!

Edit - selling my VX220 was a pain and I was on the verge of giving up. Suddenly one bloke turns up and offers me more than the asking price. Just hang in there, certainly give it a couple of months.

It all seems pretty quiet at the moment. I had mine up for sale last year, before I decided to keep her and put the tuscan purchase on hold, I had loads of interest. This year I've had a little interest but mainly timewasters. I did have one offer but it was £2k below the asking price. Having dropped the price by £1k I wasn't prepared to sell at £3k below what I feel it is worth. I'd say hang in there, in my opinion a well looked after car is worth hanging on for a decent offer. Don't give it away unless you are desperate. I guess that's what some buyers are hoping for. I'd rather keep mine than line someone else's pocket.

Have had the Wedge for sale for a month - advertised on here, a couple of classic sites and local papers & webmarts etc. Priced below agreed valuation and a good 10% below what I paid for it last year and not one single contact thus far... frown

Not that desperate, getting married next week so just planning ahead. We'll see I guess? Just need the sun to come out and stay out... If I only get silly offers I'll keep it, it's too much car to let go for peanuts. A bit like keeping Ronaldo on the bench rather than selling... kind of anyway..!

Must've been something I said - it went over the weekend... so there are buyers out there, just waiting for a bit of sun and they're out!

It was really awful to see her go, like watching someone walk out of a nightclub with your wife (not that I've seen that...!) but I suppose there's always next time. Family saloon beckons... boo!

All the best with selling yours!

I've heard of this happening before.

How did the conversation go ?

Buyer..."Hi, how much do you want for the car ?"

Seller..."Ten thousand pounds please, as advertised"

Buyer..."Ten thousand ??? Will you accept Eleven thousand for cash ?"

Seller..."Errrrr..... Yes"

Why don't I ever meet that type of fool Buyer smile

He must have misheard, surely? Either that or I'd stick the notes under a UV light! smile

Doh - sounds like I bought mine 6 months too early!
