Read an auction report the other day where a 1995 LHD Chimaera described as good original condition fetched £18k .Seems a very good price.

Was a sale in France - quite astonishing.

£18K does seem a bit steep! With the auction being in France are you sure it wasn't in Euros?

Having just exchanged some Euros £18K and 18K euros are now almost the same

Sadly, you are right! At the current exchanges rate 18K Euros is about £14250.

Hmm, seems a little cheap. Currently three LHD Chims for sale around EUR 28k which is about the regular price.

You need to remember that are probably less than 100 LHD TVRs in existance and given that a couple will be written off each year makes them rather precious. Hence the premium price.

Even so, considering the same car in RHD would be about half price, it seems like quite a premium. I know it is often cheaper e.g. to buy a LHD Ferrari in this country - But not often as big a difference...

All prices were quoted in £'s , £18090 to be precise which may include buyers premium or was because of change from Euros.
Could have been a typo tho. smile

Could it be because a RHD can't be registered in France now. Maybe only LHD can be registered. Just a guess but I had a French buyer wanting to buy my car, after giving him the chassis and engine numbers he later told me it was not possible to register it in France.
