Having just had a 'discussion' with the customer service people at my car insurance company, which resulted in their renewal quotation of £605 being reduced to £436, it struck me that it might be useful to have a PH forum devoted to the topic of car insurance? Dull, I admit, but if the word gets around about who the biggest sharks are...??

You can't name & shame though, so you'd have to disguise the names enough so that it was not guessable, which would defeat the purpose.

It's not naming and shaming though, provided you say norwich union quoted me £3000 for my 911 21, no NCB etc.

I think this is useful for general gassing, but not sure if there will be enough use for a seperate forum. Happy to be corrected though

I have been with my current insurer for the last 3 years and i have allwaye found them the cheapest until NOW.. Rang them Friday for a change of vehicle and the quoted me £325 which i thought was a bit steep. The rep said get some quotes and come back to me as i may be able to get it down slightly. So i searched tinterweb and Swiftcover.com came in at £240.00 for the same level of cover.
So i went back to my current insurer armed with this information and another rep said " Ah mate we allways give our best price first time " so i say can you at least meet me half way "NO" says the man Ok sais i stick your policy up your harris i'm off.
The £80 saved will go towards
I think that we should recommend good companies so fellow p/hers can take advantage
