Canon Software ??
Discussion
I bought a Canon Powershot a few months ago which came with the Canon software which I have on my PC (Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk v30.2).
I have since bought a Canon digital SLR which came with another software package (EOS Digital Solution Disk v13.1).
Now I have been happily uploading photos and medalling with them using the existing software and it recognises that it is a 400D camera and not the compact.
To make full use of the 400D and its software do I need to simply uninstall the 'compact' software and load the new stuff ? Will the new software recognise the compact camera ?
I've searched through pages of the Canon site but couldn't find an answer !!

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I'd scrap both and invest in: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/
Be warned, a new version is due to be released in the next few months...

1.) Everyone has it on long term eval but
2.) Digital photo professional does everything you ever need, is free. Free != crap.
I don't see there's any specific reason to load the new software, but I would do it anyway, especially if you use Vista; the latest Canon software seems to work properly on Vista whereas the earlier ones don't in my experience. It may have slightly more recent drivers. Anyway, are you plugging the 400D directly into your PC via USB cord? If so, get yourself a card reader, much faster data transfer.
The latest CD seems to have an extra application on it 'Digital Camera Professional', in adition to the 'ZoomBrowser' and 'EOS Utility'. So I thought i'd best load the lot back on after removing the old stuff. It now recognises the new 400D but doesn't recognise the Powershot.
Phoned up a Canon help line and spoke to a guy who sounded like Steven Hawkins, he confused the hell out of me (and at 10p per minute) who told me I had to download some software to the old programs to make it recognise the new SLR, this never worked however !!
Anyway - I've got it recognising the new camera so thats all i'm worrried about so far.
Might well buy a card reader and do it that way as you say, especially if its faster !!
