Hello everyone, Ive come out.

Of hibernation.

The wedge rides again now that the Vixen has pased its MoT. Ive got the tools to split the OZ racing splitrims, and have split 'em. I dropped them of to be sorted out today. Going to have the rims polished, no lacquer as its rubbish and cracks off dead easy.

Sold the megasquirt in the end because Im never going to get round to fitting it...

Hope to get out to one of the southern Wedge meets soon!

Cant get to BBWF sadly. Rats.

It'll be about £350 plus the £120 i paid for a set of brand spanking new splitrim bolts - chrome plated, dont-you-know. The new bolts are also bi-hex. Hurrah, my splitrims will be rid of those little 10 pointed b*st*rds, for which I have bought the tools. 100 quid from Germany for those - www.titanium-touch.com.

So not cheap, but you are talking about pukka 2 piece splitties, not the fake splitrim rubbish you get these days. Most of the are one piece wheels with plastic bolt heads glued on.

I'll let you know how I get on...

Sounds a bloody good price!

We need ours doing, they let the car down sooooo much! Don't want to go to an aftermarket wheel though!

Took me all evening last night to remove all 120 bolts. Lucky I have an air ratchet!

The replacement bolts are M7*24mm. They came from ebay. With the matching flange nuts they work out at a pound per nut and bolt: £120 for the set.

This of course does nothing about the centrecaps.

They are made of plastic, which is chrome plated. I dont think its going to be possible to have them rechromed (because theyre plastic), as the acid bath used to clean the old chrome off will probably dissolve the plastic!!

I may rub them down with 1200 Grit wet and dry, etch prime and paint diamond black and lacquer. Not original, but probably the best job possible. There were some ally centrecaps that someone had made on here a while back. Im not knocking the price (as they were a work of art), but I cant be arsed to spend 100 quid on centrecaps!

Looks like I might have been wrong about not being able to rechrome placcy parts.

I think it can be done, and will talk to some comapnies next week.

Could easily be £100 for all 4 though. Yikes.

I'm sure Richard Thorpe had some at his place this morning.
I picked one up and it felt pretty substantial, and certainly metallic.

Don't know how much he charges. scratchchin

Oh, and the Speed 12 looked pretty cool too.biggrin
