Traded the EXige S for a new 997 Carrera Porsche this morning, sad to see the super quick and super fun Lotus go. This was probably my best Lotus but I didnt use it enough, hopefully the new car will be just a bit more practical.

I did the reverse, 997 S to Exige S.

You will enjoy the comfort and build quality, but maybe miss the 0-100 performance and rawness when you are in the mood to be a hooligan?

I would suggest you fit the sports exhaust and de-commission the switch, it makes even driving around town enjoyable - Good luck

Yes I know the Porsche is not as quick but hey, I took the same kicking when I traded the Noble for the Lotus!
Anyway, a car is not for life is it?

Well said. In 6 months time it could be something else. FWIW I can see the attraction in a 911, 2+(2 at a push), few more comforts etc. For supercar performance coupled with everyday use and driving, especially in traffic, it's a superb car.

Oops.. nearly convinced myself eek

m8 of mine has just acquired a 997 carrera 2 S wit all the toys - it's an awesome car. Feels as if it's hewn from a solid lump of granite, really good steering feel, excellent feel from really impressve brakes and it cruises nicely too - fabulous all round car driving

I had no complaints with mine - except for the £21k it dropped in 2 years - a bit severe for my limited resources - still miss it sometimes , especially at full chat through tunnels cool

i'm considering a noble as the next logical step, so why did you go for an exige over the noble then?

I loved and cherished my Noble, I had seen it at the factory being built and it was garaged since new and used only for fun. After 4 years and 20000 miles it needed an MOT so I took it to Chir Neils. They couldnt pass it because the chassis and other parts were corroding to pieces, one of the 2 clam hinges needed replacing and this alone cost 900 quid! the other was not good but they managed to weld it. In all it cost 3500 quid to just scrape thru the test. I personally would never have felt safe tracking the car knowing just how flimsy the subframe was so it had to go.

I have to say that Lee Noble was absolutely fantastic with me,he very kindly supplied all the parts from Noble and he paid 1/2 the labour, this was after just one personal email and was pretty much unsolicited. He is an absolute star bloke and it seems a shame that he has left the company he founded.

As you know Noble cars have now sold the rights to the M12 design to an American company, had my chassis woes occured now then heaven only knows from where Iwould have sources the complicated chassis parts required.

I decided to cut my losses and abandon the Noble, shame I know because it wasnt cheap but having paid for it I had wanted to keep it forever

I'm sure the 997 will be a great car. I certainly wouldn't be disappointed to be going from an Exige S to that!
