Hello,

Please help....
Im really interested in buying a exige, preferably supercharged. But thought it might be a good idea to check out this forum in order to avoid any "schoolboy errors".

This particular car looks cheap.....

can someone tell me if im missing something?

Is this a good price?

Is there anything i need to pay close attention to?

many thanks,

Steve

Thats what worries me..

you know what they say about "if it looks too good to be true.....?

would this car still be under lotus warranty, or do they only offer 2 years?

Only 2 years factory warranty, so at best it will be up by the end of August on an 06 plate.

The first car is the better spec (sports and touring) but quite a few more miles.

It seems a few grand too cheap to me but perhaps the guy is desperate to sell - credit crunch and all that?

It does seem very cheap, i even had a look on Parkers and they reckon its worth around £25.5k private. You never know it may just be someone that needs the money quick hence the price. Im no expert but if buying prvate make sure you pay for someone to give it a good look over, also try contacting the supplying dealer for info.

That colour looks superb on the Exige, i was purring over one today that only had the touring pack on it and the dealer was asking for £30k.

With regards to warranty i am not sure if it is 2 or 3 years??

In fact i know a dealership that has just underwritten one very similar in age and spec to that for £25k and they will be selling theirs for £30k no doubt. The seller would be better phoning dealerships at that price he is asking to see if they want to buy.

First car is possibly an ex-demo, all the dealership demo cars were that colour. If it was, then it will have been ragged from day 1.

I am claiming an ex demo car wont be too bad. Yes people will try and drive it fast but these are so quick that unless you are well used to high performance cars you would never be able to hammer it as hard as you would once you have owned the car for a few months and got used to it. When I test drive a demo I was changing up when I thought it was about right. How I change right on the lights. Also when people drive demo cars is during the day when there are lots of people on the road. If I want a burn I go out late or early when no one is around. I think take the car for a long drive and if it feels right then it probably is.

If that demo car was properly run in, then probably you'd be OK. However, when I took the Wilsons demo Exige S out for a run, I ragged the st out of it for the 15 minutes I had. If I remember correctly I think it had about 650 miles on the clock.
