Loss of power.

Hi all, whilst travelling up a hill today, I experienced a massive loss of power - I ve got a V6 cosworth in mine - I checked which cylinders where not firing - 2 are missing, no 1 & 2 on the drivers side (nearest to the radiator) - cutting in and out at low revs and not firing at all at higher revs. I put new plugs in in May, so I think my coil pack has packed up - one coil serves two cylinders.

I went to look at a privately parked blue S3 today in Swindon - its in a sorry state, Im considering putting a note through the door, to see if they want to sell.

Hopefully I will get mine fixed prior to S club 7.

You could test that theory by swapping the LT and HT wiring over for that coil and see if the problem moves to another cylinder pair, or put a passive strobe / HT test light on to see how good the sparks are, or just swap the coil pack and see what happens?

Is the coilpack like this? Just down the road from S Club aswell!

Seriously only just over a day to go on the auction - get in there if its the right one!

Hi Chris - good to hear from you, Its the same as a Mondeo one, so I should be able to get one tomorrow at the breakers, so I can get it fixed quick or get it out the picture. I need that engine back on top form for next weekend.

If you think the coilpack is tracking try spraying it with one of those fine mist garden sprayers in the dark (with water not fertiliser!). You maybe able to see it arcing.

Sounds like a fairly easy to get part anyway.

My chassis has been at the shotblasters for a fortnight, they have promised me they will do it monday
Then its going to the powder coaters just round the corner.
