The cat has bitten....XJR 6 supercharged?
Discussion
Well, now 00.42am and instead of working, have been browsing having sold my 1996 Mercedes S500 Panzerclass and, only days later, found that the pesky carbug has decided to quit nibbling and instead bring out the JCB.
Having been a bit partial to giant cars (sorry dear, I know that is the 6th spot we passed but it won't fit) and especially those with a) a silly amount of power and b) the sleeper element, I was trying to figure out what to get.
Another CL? Already gutted that I let mine go for half nothing and the ones for sale at the moment are silly prices or junk
7 series (1995-1998) - big but actually disappointing on power - having had 320bhp in the Merc, I did not want to drop back
Audi A8 - electrical issues, gearbox issues....giant A6?
Jag - some sort of English car
hmmm.....
Jag
A mate or mine from Oz (here in the UK also) is from a family of Jaguar owners and I recall, many years ago, how they described testing an XJR V8
While the price of fuel has gone up, the market for large cars seems to be hammered at the moment so maybe I can pick up something.
Did some research into the V8 and see that a host of issues but, the XJR 6 cyl keeps popping up and seems only to have good things written about it.
Only a 6 but the word "bulletproof" is used a lot, supercharged for 300hp, luxobarge interior and wafting ability - seems to check all the boxes!
I was only looking to spend around £2000 - do you think that it possible to get something semi-decent for that amount of money? I don't want to spend more since lost a fortune on the Merc (he got an absolute bargain with that car and I really really regret selling it) and while cars can be advertised a £X, often they got for £X minus a lot!
Was aircon standard on them? I never managed to get to the autobahn with the Merc but plan to, come hell or high water!
Anyways, grateful for any comments
Many thanks
James

I'm pretty sure that climate control is standard on the X300You can find the original brochures on Jag-Lovers

I had one for 10 years (having sold it very recently) and never had a problem. Awsome car and as reliable as you could ever want. The rear exhaust boxes tend to rot out but the body is usually pretty good. Mechanically it was very strong and the supercharger was still sweet after 80,000 miles.
Air Con is standard on all XJR's. But if it does not produce REALLY cold air then it has a leak somewhere...
