Audio Won again, woopie...
Bring Bentley back!
Seems there the only ones who can get the job done.
Or get the main people in Bentley to do Peugeot.
Oh wait,
Audio won't have Bentley,
The year they beat em they close Bentley down,
Thats the sort of *Winners* they are,
Sabotage the competition,
Peugeot had a good effort,
But Bentley is the only real competitor.

No,
Audi owned Bentley, they entered Bentley to act asif they had competition (there thoughts). They thought that way they would get more publicity, what they didn't expect was for the Bentley speed 7+8 to win 1st+2nd above there Audi's.
Trust me, I know alot more detal into it than you ever will.

And that Bentley wasnt at least 75% Audi was itAudi owned Bentley, they entered Bentley to act asif they had competition (there thoughts). They thought that way they would get more publicity, what they didn't expect was for the Bentley speed 7+8 to win 1st+2nd above there Audi's.

And of course they expected Bentley to win, the whole thing was a successful) marketing ecxcercise
Once they'd won their job was done
If Porsche complete their buy out of VAG, I doubt they will run against Audi either, it would certainly devalue one brand (mainly Porcshe if they lost)

Bentley:
Tom Kristensen David Brabham
Rinaldo Capello Johnny Herbert
Guy Smith Mark Blundell
Audi:
Seiji Ara
Jan Magnussen
Marco Werner
Audi put the best drivers in the team they wanted to lose did they? Your quality of post is about as good as your spelling...

???Bentley had a pretty good debut in 01 and 02, and in 03 they were scheduled to do rather well. The year Bentley won, it was an Audi win anyway. Audi had to take a year off for that season. Bentley was the chosen marque from within the VAG to win that year to fill the Audi absence, for pretty straightforward sales & marketing reasons, Bentley was the chosen brand, what with a resurgence in the marque and the forthcoming GT launch. After the Bentley win, it was back to business as usual with an Audi branded car, nothing to do with 'closing down the competition because they won' as it was always going to be like that, it was planned all along, such is the supremacy of Audi. Next time they have to skip a year, they could just as easily brand the car as a Skoda or a Seat, or, if they wanted to, Bentley once again.
You make it sound like it had something to do with the boys & girls up at Crewe entering a team in a spirit of competitive motorsport against Audi. When it was more a case of internal business and politics within the VAG. Bentley had no more to do with it than they had a hand in building the cars.
Yes, it was all great stuff for three years, but at the end of the day, it was a decal on a car they had painted green for a bit.
If Bentley are going to go back to Le Mans, maybe they should distance themselves a bit from the parent company and go it alone next time, rather than a branding exercise on an RTN car. They could enter a team of Continental GT's to compete with the Corvettes and Astons.

Hang on, wasn't Bentley the only car running in the LMP1 class that year?
Also I thought Audi was running in 2003 (LMP900) as I got a very miserable Frank Biela's autograph when his car ran out of petrol early on!
EDIT: He missed the pitlane after 15 laps, hence running out of fuel.

Hello how did the Porsche RS do?.
SEE YA
Think the Porsche RSR took LMP2 if Im not mistaken?SEE YA
The Bentley was a rebadged Audi R8! It was a Bentley for nostalgic reasons, not alot else. Mainly raced by Audi drivers anyway. There was no official Audi AG entry that year.
Bring back TWR with Jaguar prototypes.

Is that the 5 rings?? How ironic is it that you come on here hating Audi, yet for all your "detal" you don't know that the Speed 8 was actually an R8 with a roof?
Bentley had a 5 year plan for Le Mans, they did it in three, why spend more money than you need to? They used the engine of the R8, and probably all of the suspension and chassis components also.
Pescarolo had a good effort in 05, but their reliability killed them off. It's the other teams who need to get better, not peg back the good ones. Le Mans is all about technology development after all.
The Pugeots did 36 hour tests, so their homework wasn't misplaced, just Audi were better. Get over it.
I agree, it is disappointing to see that it's only the Pug's who can challenge Audi for the race, however, once the category is sensibly equalised, the sompetition will be back on.
And Audi will still win!!

Bentley only ever had a 3 year programme, not 5 years.
The car was designed and built in the UK, admitedly not by the boys in Crewe but it was designed and built in the UK.
The engine block was the same as the Audi's, but it ran a different turbo set up and obviously engine map.
The gearbox was designed for the Bentley and totally different to the Audi's
The aero package and tyres which fundamentally is wear the grip and performance come form were bespoke too.
Yes, it was a VAG car and it was a total ,marketing exercise for the launch of the new Bentley, the Conti GT but why people can't accept the car was a bespoke item and won Le Mans fair and square I'll never know. The year it won, it broke numerous records, including the longest distance (at the time)covered over the 24 hours and as such if an Audi from previous years had taken part it still wouldn't have won. Let's also not forget the line up of other Audi's that year, including Frank Biela...
Le Mans is littered through the history books of different manufacturers 'sharing' chassis including the Joest Porsche of the early 1990's which used a TWR/Jaguar Chassis and teh Maxda that used the TWR/Jaguar chassis...
Bentley was an awesome product and a real tragedy that they didn't sell to privateers to run after 2002, but the history books are set..
Roll on the future, will we see a TATA/Jaguar at Le Mans....... Let's hope so!
