Afternoon Chaps
Need to change the diff in the Chim. How long should it take for an experienced mechanic to change it, he has not worked on TVR's before.
Have many of you done this before and are there tips that I can pass on.
Thanks

Mechanically its not difficult.
But the diff is heavy and it has to be turned through virtually 90 degrees to come down through the chassis rails.
It is sometimes easier to unbolt the diff from the front brackets and leave them in place 'till the diff is out.

Did my BTR last year, not too bad to do, getting it out was easy enough, gravity helped. The hardest part was putting it back in, not so much because of the weight but more due to it needing to be lifted and twisted a certain way to go back in. Had the chassis rails been less than an inch further apart the whole job would have been dead easy.
Obviously the exhaust and anti roll bar need to come off, shafts unbolted, prop off, speed sensor off, two front brackets off and long back mounting bolt off. Can't put an exact time to it because I was doing it in between doing other things, 2/3 hours at a guess?
Got a few useful tips off Seasider who has his in an out like a fiddler's elbow for some reason. I think his name is Del 203 this week, he has been going through a bit of a mid name crisis lately due to his medication hehe

If you need any more clues feel free to PM me.

ETA - this thread has some tips on doing this:

BTR diff needs about 1.6 liters of 80w140, I used 'Millers CRX LS 80w140 BM' which is specially for LSD diffs.
