Hi All,

Saied, Nothelle, Random K, myself and perhaps one or two others from the South East of England are heading up to the Evo Triangle on Sunday 22/6/08 for 1-3 days of hooning. Some of the group will be leaving early but two or three of us are planning to do at least 3 days up there.

We planned to meet up on the M40 Oxford services at 7AM on the Sunday and get to the triangle by late morning/noon. We'll probably grab a light lunch at this stage and then explore the area for the rest of the day.

We are planning to stay in a B&B in Betws-y-coed (approx £25/night) and be doing runs from there for at least a couple of days afterwards.

If anyone would like to join us for the trip, please PM me for more details. We'll probably have another stop between the M40 Oxford services and the Triangle so can meet other people along the way as needed.

Quyen

This is a really good idea, you'll want to be doing the runs at whatever time the traffic isn't bad and Betws-y-coed actually looked like a nice place to be when driving through it. I checked the A5 again today, at it's the most frustrating bloody road ever when the traffic is heavy, even at 60 it's fun, but doing 30-40 just gets you annoyed. When I did it either after midnight or when the roads were clear all the roads in that part of wales are Amazing.

I'd love to join you but having just done another 500+ miles to get there and back my poor car needs some TLC.

One thing worth noting, if the roads are clear you should easily be able to get to Betws-y-coed in 4 hours without stopping (from Reading).

New steering rack is still sitting in the lounge, between walking up hills and working, I've had no chance to do anything! I find it adds excitment to journeys, the wheel I broke was just plain dangerous though.

Have a great time John, very jealous.

I've now complied a list of many decent roads in the area from the 'Evo triangle' thread. Will sketch Sunday's route shortly.

Its going to be quite a task for me to do all three days, though. Increasing work commitments for me this week are going to make it something of a burden.

My proposal? I'll plan Sunday. Another volunteer to do Monday and Tuesday please.

Justin

Looks like we'll be bringing the rain coats and umbrellas if the BBC forecast is anywhere near accurate rage

Arse. Does'nt look too bad on Metcheck - wettest day being Sunday, Mon/Tues just a bit of drizzle.

Driving in the wet can be fun though biggrin

Agreed. The boot in my car is at least half filled once I take the roof off. I'd have a struggle fitting it all in.

Guys, its looking increasingly unlikely i'm going to be able to make this now. frown

My car has been in the garage since Tuesday. The new ali-belled brake discs which i'm to have fitted have still not arrived.

So frustrating, especially as my request for annual leave on Monday 23rd June has been granted. banghead

Don't book any accommodation for me. If by some miracle the car is ready to collect tomorrow, i'll just have to sort out ad hoc sleeping arrangements.

Bugger mate, hope things work out and you're still able to make it.

Weather forecast is absolutely useless, BBC says it's now going to rain on Saturday and be sunny on Sunday. Metcheck predicts rain for Saturday and Sunday mad

The BBC forecast for Betws-y-Coed on Sunday is not looking too bad now: light occasional showers with mainly sunny intervals. Certainly better than the heavy rain they were forecasting a day or two ago.

I'll take note of your mobile numbers on the offchance the car is ready tomorrow so I can meet you.

If I don't get the car back in time, I shall still catch up with some of you guys soon as i'm going to plan another Kent hoon shortly.

My car is ready. woohoo

I'm going to be driving up to Oswestry when I finish work in London at 11pm tonight eek and staying overnight there. Hence won't be at Oxford Services tomorrow morning.

Quyen, i'll ring you to arrange a spot to meet up around mid-morning tomorrow.

Great trip guys. Thanks for coming. We'll have to organise something similar soon.

Hope you 3 had a great time on the last day and escaped without incidence.

Got my new tyre today - £161 fitted and balanced at Kwik fit. Not the cheapest but it was near by.

If you don't see me for a while, it'll be because I am learning to drive properly and saving up for the next hoon smile

Until then, stay safe.
