trimming the rear hub nut thread
Discussion
Just go the spiders fitted
the rear centre caps don't fit, as the thread on the end of the "hub nut" (the big nut in the centre of the wheel) is sticking out too far.
I was told to cut the end of the thread off, leaving a couple of threads exposed.
Anyone relate to this, and got any suggestions how to do it ?
I made a start with a hacksaw, but tricky to get it "square" to the hub. Angle Grinder seems a but severe.
cheers

no concerns about the sparks flying around, particularly on the passenger side, near all that lovely petrol hose etc ?
also, did the grinder fit between the wheel studs or did you go at it at and angle rather than a "parallel" cut ?
cheers

Depending on how you hold the grinder you can aim the sparks where you want within reason. You have to be careful to avoid the wheel studs, another reason to be gentle. I did have to cut at an angle, but it was easy enough to get a flat surface. You could always try something like a dremel, but I'm not sure if the cutters would be aggressive enough, or just burn out.no concerns about the sparks flying around, particularly on the passenger side, near all that lovely petrol hose etc ?
