One throttle resets and the other doesn't (Diagnostics)
Discussion
The tick over on my car was getting a little bit low (500 cold, 650 warm) so I decided to turn it up a bit. From reading the forum, it seems the advice is to reset the throttle pots after doing this & reset the adaptive maps.
Before doing anything, my throttle pot readings were both around the 18 to 19 level.
After adjusting the tickover rpm to 925ish & choosing "reset throttle" in the diagnostics software, I'm left with one throttle pot reading 15 and the other reading 20.
I've tried resetting a couple of times, but it hasn't made any difference. Why is my 2nd throttle pot not getting reset to 15? Is this indicative that I need to replace it?
Thanks,
Phil

Hi
Once you reset your idle you then have to get a Synchrometer and reset each trumpet before reseting anything with the diagnostics. The synchrometer should read 7 when engine is on idle. You have to reset each trumpet in order as in cyclinders 321 then 456 then use the diagnostics to reset your throttle pots and adaptives.
Cheers

What synchrometer do you use? Do you need a high- flow one?Once you reset your idle you then have to get a Synchrometer and reset each trumpet before reseting anything with the diagnostics. I dont know if it is high flow. I got one off Demon Tweeks.

The guys at trackVroad in Clitheroe (where I bought my Tuscan) use this one. The rubber is slightly too small for the trumpets but all you do is glue on some more rubber the make the right diameter. Something like a Mountain bike inner tube.
It works a treat tho.

Thanks. I see that you can also get a "syncrometer", a device which may (or more likely may not!) cure all diseases!
Same people also produce a "Food Zappicator" which for "Prevention of all Cancers" (and a bunch of other guff)

Don't think the other stuff is too useful on a Speed Six though, it's just that I couldn't remember which place I got my balancer from so thought I would give the link to all and just show you that you can get them cheaper.
Sorry, just being daft!
Ordered one last night - ta!Cheers,

Maybe it will get rid of all my problems
I got my syncrometer & balanced the air flow. None of them were particulary out. However, when I try to reset the throttle pots using the diagnostics, the second one doesn't seem to want to reset to 15.
Here's a screen shot of the diagnostics. The adaptive on bank 2 seems way off to. What could be wrong?

Have you tested if the throttle pot is ok ?
With the engine shut off and the ignition on, connect the ECU diag software and press the accelerator slow to fully open the throttles. The readings on the pots should be equal within 2-3 percent over the hole range. If you have problems with the readings try to check for water or corrosion in the connectors for the throttle pots, otherwise you have to change the pot that has the faulty reading.

I tried as Peppe suggested above - watching the readings from the throttle pots as I push down on the accelerator pedal and release. Other than throttle pot 2 always reading about 5 higher, I think that the results were smooth enough.
Isn't it the ECU that interprets the results from the throttle pots? As this is my thinking, I can't understand why the reading won't reset to 15% when I push reset throttles as I believe it should. Am I wrong?
