Hi guys.. back in Oz now and getting towards the business end of my next HSV purchase.. looking like a E series R8 (VXR8) or GTS - maybe still a Maloo but just don't like the E series HSV ute from the back.. looks a bit too OTT IMO.

Wondered if any of you guys with "improved" security systems had one fitted with the rev limiter mode so that when yr car is in the hands of valet guys or other "maybe I'll give it a qik blurt arpund the block" young blokes, the engine simply wont run over 200 or similar. I'm sure I remember someone had such a feature on their VXR Munro a while back.

Any advice re make/models/experiences appreciated.

cheers

julian with efilive you can connect a switch to a spare pin that triggers the ECU into a valet mode should you need it, you then program the ECU with limits you pre-select

For the price of it and with the hassle aftermarket kits can have, thats the option I'd look at (plus you can then tune yourself should you so desire)

Not for the VE series though..

But efilive supports changes from just the hand unit. The guys are working on switchable settings done from the handset. Not sure what yet, but presume valet mode will be there etc.

Else the handset will do a full flash in 30sec so you can just flash in a valet tune, same effect. Plus you can mess with loads of other stuff like fueling, spark etc. Plus scan and reset codes, which the guys at the pod saw smile
Also you can remove the speed restricter for vmax operations.. etc, etc.

Nothing a big bucket of putty wouldn't fix. Would agree, it looks pretty ugly from the back. To me it looks more like something that you would find in Hot Wheels packaging and in much smaller scale. Didn't have that much of a look, but you could probaly just panel it up.. (maybe)..
