To cut a long story short, I've just got back from a very good Le Mans weekend, and woke up to find one very dead Mk1 1800i (NA95).

I need a wiring diagram. If anyone has one, that would be hugely helpful.

Wish me luck frown

How do you know it's not just a flat battery?
C'mon give us some more info. It's probably something really simple!

Because the battery's fine. It's working the headlights.

If it's not too much trouble, can I request the whole lot? We may need them all!

The main wiring loom looks to have been frazzled.

Is it possible to have the lighting one first, though?

Other than not starting, what other symptoms does it have?

Isn't there a main engine fuse somewhere? Under the bonnet?

There is and it's fine. In fact all the fuses are except the few it blew earlier on, which have been replaced.

Oh no! and it looked so nice earlier (i have the same model/year/colour). I can't help you im afraid, not at the minute anyway, the diagrams are hidden somewhere under piles of spanners and other tools in the garage.

Do the dash lights dim when you turn the key ? could be a duff starter or solenoid on the starter . Does it have an immobiliser of some sort ?

If it is the main wiring loom it is not that hard to repair ,Mine cooked just about every wire this time last year on the way to Le Mans ,I managed to re-jig it all in a field over there well enough to get me home

One quick call to a breakers and a few weekends work later a new loom and fuse board was installed grand total £70

Bad news for clutches and tyres too, if you get what I mean.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm sorry if I haven't got back to some of your questions but for the most part, I've been busy sleeping or helping Dave (my dad) repair the car.

Firstly, yes, the car does have an immob but I don't use it as, for some reason, the hazard lights don't stop flashing when I put it on scratchchin

Basically, the car has, at some point, had an under-dash fire which at the time would have filled the cabin up with smoke and stunk the car out. As the ever awesome Dave pointed out, the lack of odour in the car now and the way in which the wires are would indicate this having been some years ago. I would certainly have known about it if it hapenned to me!

We've got the sidelights working again now and are looking to replace the damaged wires with new stuff and basically getting the wiring loom to an 'as new' conditon.

An ever halpful man in the campsite gave up his entire Thursday afternoon to help me rig up a temp system to get the tail lihgts working again, to save me having to go home on a single fog light. So many thanks to him. I got him and his wife a little thank you present each but am still hugely thankful for his selflessness. smile

We're still working on the car now. I will keep you updated.

Many thnks for everyone who posted information - it proved to be crucial. Armed with that, Dave delved under the dash, in and around oily bits armed with a tester and bits of new wire and has basically done a re-wire thumbupbowspin

He's resurrected the car and it is running as it was, which is a huge relief.

I went and tried it for the first time and got called allsorts by a bunch of girls for still having my Le Mans stickers on! irkedlaugh
