I do not know if anyone has any experience of the above companies parts. I have an TVR S1 with a Cosworth V6, and the standard brakes are fine (no probs on trackdays either, the car is considerably lighter than a fully loaded Sierra afterall), albiet with a pad change and braded hoses and new fluid.
The problem is unsprung weight. The car uses the front uprights, calipers discs etc from the Sierra, which weight a tonne. The front axle weight on my car is measured at 480kgs, quite a bit less than a Sierra, so over certain type of road irregularities, you can feel the lack of suspension movement. One area where I could take a chunk of weight out at a throw is to fit some alloy callipers, of which HiSpec seem to do at a reasonable cost for Sierras. Its pointless fitting Brembo (or eny other fancy expensive make, even though they are no doubt better), much as I might like to, the car is only worth £3-4k, infact from a financial point of view its daft spending any money on it really, but then you only live once etc.
So the question is, I have heard some negative comments about this manufacturer. Does anyone actually know if they are any good or not?

I have dealt with 'Hi Spec' in the past. I now go to BG Developments for brake components.

They dont have a great reputation in Honda circles but some people are using them successfully on track cars.

It seems like an expensive way to save weight to me.

Matt, what do you suggest? Its unsprung weight I am interested in loosing. So its either uprights (either not available or massively expensive), brakes and disc`s, and wheels and tyres?

Without wanting anyone to descend into contravening the N&S policy - would it be any better to source a brake kit from the above through one of the better known TVR-specific suppliers? I must say for specification/cost ratio the Hi Spec Chimaera/Griff brake kit does look to knock the spots off the other options...

Wheels and tires will probably give you a bigger gain, as its rotating mass as well as unsprung weight.. Although I dont know how heavy your existing wheels are.

How much weight will you save by using ali calipers? 10kg maybe.

I can understand what your trying to acheive, but its not an easy place to save weight. Would it be possible to move away from the sierra bits to something lighter?

Check out the Wilwood calipers at Rally Design. Very similar to HiSpec, and very reasonably priced. If you can catch Rally Design at one of the kit car shows they often have complete conversion kits with a nice discount.
