Would like any advice on known problems with front offside on a Mk1?
Got a call from my son this morning who got to work to discover he had some smoking coming from around the wheel and its significantly hotter compared to the nearside.
Do wheel bearings have a bombproof reliability on the MX5 and its probably a caliper as Im thinking or is there a trouble spot in there that gives trouble, I'll go see him later this afternoon.
Pearls of experience would be appreciated please.

It'll probably be a seized brake calliper - that's a fairly common problem.
If it was a knackered wheel bearing you would get lots of noise from it rather than heat.
