Silverstone test - FARM limit
Discussion
Did anyone now about this before they purchased? seems like a crap deal to me
From bird on ticket line...
In addition, spectators will be "housed" at Farm. This is because there is pre-GP construction work between Luffield and Copse; the Test and the GP have never been so close together before so there's a lot of work to do.

following the popularity of last year's F1™ test, Silverstone will be opening some of the best grandstands and spectator terraces at no extra charge to ensure fans get the best possible views of the on-track action.
Well either the website is telling porkies or the Sales staff haven't got a clue.I was tempted to book tickets but i won't be bothering now.
I heard about this today, about 10 minutes after buying my ticket for Tuesday (incidentally, anyone else going or is there a thread?) and people claim its true, were all going to be stuck in Farm, and tickets have been limited. I reckon they will open from Bridge through Vale and Bridge is the only grandstand open, thus we can stand against railings.
The silverstone website is stupid, but it is being updated frequently for ticket sales so I have no idea if the site or the people are right.
Guess we will just have to wait and see what happens on the day.

I'll be there tuesday - I did want to take some good photos but if movement is limited to battery hen proportions then I'm contemplating whether to take it at all Guess we will just have to wait and see what happens on the day.
.Rob, I'm Mansfield way, where in the Midlands are you?

Hey Kybo, im over in Stourbridge. I have a 2004 Corsa C SXi these days, and will prolly be in a Marlboro Ferrari shirt :P So if you decide to go and feel like saying hi to a fellow Pistonhead who doesn't post all that often, then feel free!

No way Farm will hold 5,000 spectators - they must be opening the stretch down to Vale too. Not the best place to view F1 cars - I'm not even sure you can see over the top of Bridge there which rules out viewing them into the complex
I tend to think they must open it up to Vale to. There must be a covered grandstand in case of rain anyway....and Farm is an open one IIRC.condor said:

Not necessarily - they didn't open a covered grandstand last year.Rob,
Not sure what time I'll be getting there but I'll look out for ya. Dunno what i'll be wearing but I'll be there with my stonking black lens (Sigma 50-500mm)

But as I already have my ticket now I'll still be going on Wednesday.
Could always sell it, the guy in this thread wants one, and from S'stone direct they're sold out: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Does it mean that's the only grandstand that they're opening (assuming there is one at Farm(?)) That can't be the only place available, surely, but we'll have to wait and see...
