driving to work yesterday was hit on the foot by something from under the dash. After looking down at 70 ish MPH i decided to pull over.........
It was a 1 1/2" machine bolt with a tapered thread, there was no evidence of oil, just a very shiny bolt. I would imagine it's come from a threaded hole as apposed to having a nut and wsher on the business end, but have yet to see where it has fallen from.
Anyone else had similar bolts appear, and being just out of warranty, who do i take it to?

Bump my own thread....
Is no one alarmed bolts can just drop out? it's not like I race/rally every weekend - most of my driving is motorway stuff.

Only safety related items that come to mind from under dash is steering column securing bolt (more than one) or perhaps steering lock securing bolt. They used to be shear bolts don't know if that is still the case.

Nearest place to you is probably the fishermen as they are called. There are plenty of links to them on the forum. They appear to be very helpful.

What's the significance of the Skoda logo? Not that there's anything wrong with Skodas these days.

Thanks for the suggestions - i will be crawling under the dash later today for a quick peek - and to check brake/clutch/Steering wheel linkages

So a bolt suddenly appears in the footwell and your steering has a lot of movement, would it not be an idea to try and work out what it is?

to be fair though his car is currently not roadworthy anyway being that its missing a huge chunk of its front end!! It was bought as a write off and he's busy rebuilding it to put it back on the road, sure the steering wheel's not the only wobbly bit on it at the moment

you don't hang about do you - its only 10 days since I bumped into you buying the subframe from the breakers yard and now you're getting the rest of the bodywork sorted. I havent even got a few metres of spare hose sorted out yet for my charger!!!

Suppose im lucky in a way, get the parts v.cheap cos i work for GM, and they turn up next day. Saves waiting for them to come from Aus and they were cheaper.

I have some spare drainpipe outside if thats all you need for your project ;-)

Had a good look and still can't see where it came from. Will keep safe and see what happens unless someone can give any more info.
