Right im going on a drive out this sunday in a hire car again (still not got my own car!!) so who fancies a run out in their snotter or crap'ish' car? meeting point to be confirmed as and when we find out whos coming. time will be luch time, somewhere in derbyshire/nottnghamshire, route is up for negotiation but thinking somewhere different and will include in PH tradition a watering stop (to let the hire car recover from my driving)
please can u add your names and where you will be traveling from so we can try and meet in a conviniant place for all.

I'd come as I actually have this Sunday off work, but I have it off to go to the French Car Show.

Possibly the worst Sunday to do it on. Its the Moto GP at Donnington. Unless you fancy dodging insane bikers doing dodgy overtakes and maneuvers?

I wouldnt count on it. The GP dosent start till 3pm! Plenty of time for a dash round Derbyshire/Notts beforehand. It may have changed but a few years ago I did a classic car run on the same Sunday as the GP. It was a nightmare. Going north up to Hope Valley or Buxton may be ok but I would steer clear of anywhere near Donnington.

Ok, Ive made plans for this now so the meeting point will be the Dakota hotel, Nr Hucknall, just off J27 of the M1, from there we will be doing a good bit of driving taking in a mixture of roads, across somewhere a little different to the normal and also to keep out of the way of the bikers as someone mentioned earlier, If you all think my route is going to be dodgy pls ask car.chic for a refrence as shes been out on a run with me before and im good a choosing good roads and routes, her best cooment to me was "i didnt know you had good driving roads in Nottinghamshire" hehe as mentioned before this will not be a race (im in a 1.2 corsa) its going to be a nice chilled out run so no huliganism :sniggers:

pls add names to the list below

the tea boy - Hired corsa 1.2
Car.chic - Mk1 MX5
Stack Monkey - Skoda

Can't make this one. Shame as it starts very local to me and it's about time I took the car out. Only done about 14 miles in the last month.

I don't know what route you are planning but it is also the Great Notts Bike Ride this Sunday. The shorter routes head out from Holme Pierrepont towards Newark but the longer route goes north from Newark and loops down through Ollerton, Southwell & Thurgaton.

Yep Matts routes are indeed good biggrin

Hi folks, I'm new to PH but willing to show my face and Just to make you feel all special, i'll be in the sttest car there as i can't make my mind up on colour at the mo so......

Make sure you come and welcome me cos i get a bit shy!!!

However just to point out, i aint no chav! Lets put it this way... how many chavs do ya no that don't own a pair of tracky bottoms? I'm 23 the other car is an s2000 (I'm not insured on it yet as I'm trying to save pennies for uni!!)and going to uni could also tell ya that i'm not the kind of person to be hanging round in gangs on the street, or trying to impress someone with my ride yo!!!!

anyhow, think I've stressed that enough!

I'm just a regular guy who enjoys modifying his own car and I'm also into photography so if you all wish i could bring down the SLR and we could be having a mini shoot if that interests you?and here she was less than two week ago:

and before that:

And way back in time:

did have two of these, unfortunately one had its wheels stolen and was broken into, the engine also fried so decided to get rid and look after just the one which was a lot easier

TBH, that might be pushing it a bit, timewise, to get back to Ripley for you to then go onto the Dakota hotel for 4pm. If we leave at Ripley at 9.30am, then possibly across to Burton, get to the RR event at about 11am, it will be at least about 4pm before we've seen what there is to see there. Unless the weather is crap, which I think it may be, in which case we probably won't linger as long.

If you want to bail out on the RR day Nicola, no worries, your call smile
