Kangaroo TV - Anyone get one this year? Should I next year?

Didn't work in Beausejour and very intermittent at Porsche curves. Apart from that great!

it was brilliant but didnt work far away from the centre such as the Mulsanne straight, well worth it if you fancy relaxing at 4am.

cheers for the very quick replies guys. From what i read on the website they sounded great but i didn't get one as i was worried about how far away they'd work. Sounds like that is the main draw back with them.
We always stay in Expo, anyone got experience of what the signal was like there?

I thought the Kangaroo was pretty pricey..E65 a day. In fact, I had a big bit of luck as the two guys sitting immediately in front of me in MB tribune were sharing one and happy for me and others to look over their shoulder. In principle, a great idea and the performance of their receiver was first class, but worth the money...hmm? RLM is free and traditionally a great way to keep up, although like others I thoughnt this year's content was somewhat disappointing.

fair point. I was considering sharing it with my brother at a cost of 80 Euros for the weekend so 40 Euros each isn't bad (assuming the signal is good when we want to go back to the campsite)

Guy in front of me sitting on the pit straight in the Tavano stand had one. I noticed that there was a couple of seconds delay between what was showing on the big screens and what he was looking at but the pic quality was good. There were more big screens around the track than in 2006 so with radio LM to keep you up to date in the campsites I'd say they were pretty pricey.

Had one this year and will probably get one next year - but only one for our whole group to share.

Coverage was generally good for the main start/finish drag and OK over in Houx where we were but that's about your limit. I'd guess any camp site close to the village will be OK but not those farther afield.

We shared one between our group and found it excellent. We managed to get good coverage in the middle of KN but as mentioned got a little patchy on the Porsche Curves. Expensive if there is just one or two of you but between 6 it is the price of a couple of beers. Will definately get one next year.

We used the same logic camping in Houx to buy a fridge from Center Sud each year

We took a proper TV and sky box / dish.

Not difficult to set up, completely free if you have a dish, decoder, subscription etc already and Eurosport covered about 14 hours of the race (most of Eurosport broadcast was shown on the big-screens anyway) plus we got to watch the Euro 2008 games too, result!

Hi Gary,
We stayed opposite Expo in the circuit bar ( LEMANS RUN ), with a few of us in Expo and the TV was "OK", if you aimed it the right direction you could get signal.
Fantastic and worth every penny - i did happen to ask if you could buy it and she said not at the moment but in america they are $100 for Nascar !!!!

Thinking back the only realy issue I had with the 'roo was the stats. as they were so goddam slow to update they were only good as a general idea of who was where/how they were going.

When Peugeot gambled on slicks at the end of the race I tried to see if it was working by watching the lap times. A few laps in the Audi went past with the 20/30 seconds behind. A lap later they came back past much the same and the 'roo updated to show a 3something lap for the Audi and a 5something one for the Pug... that would have been the Pugs pit lap about 5 laps ago then.

Only trouble with a TV,sat dish and decoder I would imagine, is walking around with them...

Saw one being used in the PCGB campsite, wandered over and chatted a bit about it, pricey, but loads of options on tv feed, stats and comentary, I'd have got one if they were't as expensive, IIRC 80E for the weekend

So...you expected them to give you a reasonably expensive bit of electronics and then just let you walk off with it and no motivation to return it?!?

And lets face it returning it wasn't exactly a chore. If you had one you were probably staying in/around the village and their stand was open until 7PM Sunday - 4 hours after the end of the race.

I was quite intrigued by these; I thought the 80euro for the weekend was fairly ok, especially between 2 or more of you.

Did you find it a chore having to exchange the battery all the time? Other than that, I quite liked the idea of them.

We messed up this year and didn't keep Radio LeMans on which meant we found it difficult to follow the race - especially going to sleep around 4am and waking up at 9 to find an Audi in the lead!

I think we will get one, curiosity as much as anything really
