Hello there guys just got a quick question regarding the none signed NIP`S.

I got mine a while, got done doing 64 in a 50, which upto 4 weeks prior was a 60, so i thought bugger it im not gonna sign, so 1st of all i sent off the nip not filled with a letter asking for the photo`s, which i got, and you coulnt make the face out, so i sent the nip off, unsigned but filled in, a week later i got this letter back:
---------------------------------------------------
Dear sir/madam

I acknowledge reciept of your notice nominating yourself as the driver at the time of the alledged offence. If you wish to take up the conditional offer, thereby avoiding the necessity of a court hearing, the enclosed duplicate notice must be completed and signed at the drivers statement and returned together with your drivers license and payment of £60

Yours faithfully

xxxxxxxx

----------------------------------------------------

I take it this is normal and just send of the unsigned Nip off again? do i need to do anything else, as there is no return by date on it????

What do you think?

Oh and is failure to furnish worse than speeding in the eyes of insurance etc? what offense code does it come under btw?

Thanks in advance

If you were to be successfully prosicuted for failing to furnish, you'd get code MS90 (I think) and probably 3 points & £60.

Madcop suggested there wouldn't be a weighting on insurance for this, but my housemate who works in the industry suggested that it would be treated as an SP offense - perhaps it depends on your insurance company?

So let me get this right (in same situation!) You sent off your NIP completely blank asking for the photos. They sent you the photos and you returned the NIP filled in but unsigned. Their offer then was you to sign the NIP and get a £60 fine - any mention of points dare I ask?

I got caught in the stiest camera in Wales (Cwmbran to Newport dual carriageway, 60 yards within a 30 zone), hence my desire not to sign the NIP.

In any other situation (honestly) I would hold my hands up and take the points.

If you accept their kind offer, you'll win 3 points.
