Would it be possible to prevent people from deleting posts once they have been replied to? In particular when the post is the start of a thread and the thread has other posts.

It is very annoying to read a thread and try to figure out WTF is going on only to realise, eventually, that the OP has been deleted.

There are two issues with this.

If the thread is really old then the first post is missing due to a migration issue several years ago.

Recently we have implemented a system to place text saying if the first post has been deleted so that it is clear to the reader if that is happened.

I presume it is probably the first case that you spotted and we are still working on a way of recovering the lost data.

OK, thanks. It would be nicer if people simply couldn't delete posts once they have been replied to or opening posts once the thread has other posts. Or, maybe only allow edits/deletion for just long enough to correct mistakes, say 5 mins, then the option is removed.
