Hi guys.

Quick question.

I got a Williams Clio with a seized engine am struggling to source another Williams engine other than some 1.8 ones.

Now my question. Is the Megane 2.0 16v engine the same ? I read that they both used the F7R engine .
I have also read that the head is slightly different on the Megane.
Is this a problem ? Would I be able to bolt the Williams head to a Megane block ?

I have little knowledge of Renaults but £250 sounded like a good price to me so I bought it.

Any tips or advice will be gratefully received.

Cheers db

Strip em down and have a look only way to be sure.

But I can't imagine renault making a unique engine for the clio williams.

Williams and megane engines are very similar, Cylinder heads are different as the megane has bigger valves, different shape inlet ports and run individual coils, No distributor, The head isnt much good to you unless you want to run throttle bodies etc, bottom ends are almost identical however i believe it has better waterways etc the williams head will bolt on, you'll have to swap the flywheel as it has different pickups and cambelt covers
Ive got one in my mk1 clio with a 1.8 16v head

iv heard the cams have different sized trusts and is slightly milder on the maganes and the megane has 3 less bhp and only revs to 6000 and the williams goes to 6100 so id use just the bottom end if it was me

Use the 2.0 megane engine complete, with 1.8 cams in it......
