Cerb or Tuscan?
Discussion
Right, am getting the bug for another TVR (Had a 5.0 Chim for a while) and am thinking of either a Cerb or a Tuscan.
So the questions are:
1. Which is fastest, a 3.6 Tuscan or a 4.2 Cerb?
2. Which handles better (am I right in assuming the Cerb due to the tin roof?).
3. I imagine running costs will be about the same for each, is this correct?
Must say a Tuscan is looking good at the moment.....

drive both, personally ive alweays been amassive fan of the Cerb and owned all three variants at some point. the best for me ( By far im my own opinion) was the 4.5
I have never really been a fan of the Tuscan design, but thats just my 2ps and Many prefer the Tuscan over the cerb for other valid reasons.

Cerb all the way, best TVR in terms of build and speed (and yes I have driven a Sag and a Tusc MKII, the Tusc II had bits falling off it during the test drive!) a set of decent shocks and springs should be top of the shopping list but most will of already had them. I found my Tuscan slower and far more flimsy and I had one of the last Mk1 S's generaly considered to be the wildest of the breed. All IMHO of course! If you can stretch to a 4.5 it will give far more scope for upgrades. I suspect the Cerb will be more costly to run from a servicing point but a good idie will keep the costs down, but the engine, while not exactly bulit proof, is less likley to need a regular rebuild. Have a look in the Speed Six forum for advice on this.

Both are great cars. I had 2 Tuscans before my Sag and both were great cars. Build quality on the T2 was superior to the T1 but both vary. I'm on my 3rd SP6 and love it.
I chose my first Tuscan in preference to a Cerb (which had been my choice) for several reasons. The Cerb interior is very claustrophobic, especially if it a dark colour, and you dont have the relief valve of taking the roof off. The rear seats are essentially decoration unless you want to carry very small children and yet the Tuscan has a far bigger boot and from that point of view is a more practical proposition. We've had holidays in Europe with 2 weeks luggage for 2 and the roof in the boot and there is plenty of room. The Tuscan is both convertible and coupe and feels very different roof on or off.
At the end of the day they are both great. Drive as many of both as you can and choose a good one of either and you will be happy.

The rear seats happily take my lanky ten year old and his friends, I've had two adults squashed into the rear for an admittedly short journey. Of course all this helps that me and the missus are short so can have the seats forward.
As for boot size? Well if my missus can get everything in for a 6 day break away...
