Magazine Battle - the conclusion?

I fully agree with the way that Ted handled my previous thread and the fact that it had to be deleted, just when it was getting interesting 
Since the close and during the final stages I have been exchanging emails with Kitcarman (Den) and wish to add the following:-
He has basically admitted to throwing his toys out of the Pram and over-doing the attacks volume wise during the last few issues, for reasons he has gone into in depth he will also be doing so in the next few issues with decreasing volume, due to the huge delay in supplying copy and that copy reaching our doorstep, I didn't fully understand the technicalities of the way sections are produced and repeated but it sounded sincere
As I said before I am prepared to move my position a little if given good reason, Dens explanations are detailed and show both a passion for the industry and an understandable volume of anger that spilled over for us all to see.
we agree to disagree on some points but have found common ground and I salute his intentions if not methods.
I hope he will continue to post here and keep within forum rules, it is always a pleasure to be able to refer to someone with a depth of expertise.
Now, anyone fancy a weekend wiring a Phantom?....No!

That's really good of you to say Ted, and whilst I felt like I was entering the lions den at first I felt at home after a short while.
I'll be better behaved in future and fully appreciate that certain things can't be said when one's a guest.

As the catalyst for the last thread being closed, I am glad to see so magnanimous an attitude.
Two of the golden rules of these forums are that they are not to be used to promote personal business interests, nor are they to be a used in a way that might impose some civil or criminal liability on the publisher.
Within these parameters, may free speech reign, unhampered by politically correct do gooders.
I welcome your continued input on this site. Pistonheads will be richer as a result of your depth of knowledge and I hope that the kit car industry will flourish with a more positive reputation than it has often endured.
By the way, are you aware whether the GP Spyder or the JZR 3 wheeler are still available in any shape or form?

I left the Kit car scene until the last couple of months and said to the wife after buying both magazines,that I always found certain things put over a bit 'blunt' by a certain person.Wether telling a paying clent selling his unbuilt car in his monthly look at the classifieds,'stay clear of that' or just general ramblings.I didnt quite understand the dealings that Den had with the character,but if this is to be believed,we don't need people who will destroy such an industry.I have now gone and bought my Westie and will continue to buy Kit Car and hope that the banter does quieten down and 'lets get on with buisness'.Like was said before.Don't come down to his level.I know if I was in Dens shoes and the libel was said,I would kick sh17 too.
Just one little question to Den regarding the so called Razor.There was a v8 in said mag racing.Is this the only known car?

The Eldon roadster was made for a few years and a few (somewhere between 10 and 20) were made. Not bad cars, but simply not in the right league to prosper commercially. To quote Which Kit? Jan 03.
"Existing in the kit car twilight zone for much of the last decade, the Eldon Roadster has been so far on the fringe that Which Kit? has often wondered whether it still existed."
Which Kit? went on to announce that it had new owners (not being candid that it was them) and a new "sharp" name (practice more like) and said:-
"Here's a welcome return to the front line....."
The V8 to which you refered was in fact an old original, heavily modified Eldon made years and years ago.
The Razer will have to be significantly different to the Eldon if only such that it can pass an SVA test. It will also need mechanical revision if only to enable it to be sold (nobody is going to buy a new kit utilising Cortina & RWD Escort bits) and Which Kit? has said that the styling is to be altered to remove the 'boxy' aspects.
What gets up my nose is the fact that an ad appears for a Razer showing a picture of an Eldon, which for the reasons stated above will bear no resemblence to what is sold when, if ever, it reaches production. Add to this the fact that Which Kit? to this day hasn't declared its interest. Add to this Which Kit?'s apparently unbiased endorsement which read "sepreme road manners" and my blood boils because nobody but nobody knows what its road manners will be until after its made.
This accounts for 1/3 page of the infamous 10 pages in this month's Kit Car. I really don't think it's wrong to draw attention to this. Especially in view of the number of occasions Which Kit? has been critical of manufacturers offering kits before they were ready.
If the gamekeer turns poacher then who takes care of the game. Don't forget that you PistonHeads ARE THE GAME.

GP Spyder is available from GP Technical - Now run by a Belgian called Bart Aargates (spelling of last name might be suspect).
JZR is still available on a "cottage industry" basis. Don't know the full story but the demonstrator turned over at Castle Coombe a number of years ago with a punter in the passanger seat. The following legal claim took the wind out of the propriotors sails. Understandable!
You won't find either advertised but old kits never die. Is that good or bad?
I fancy an Eldon - know where i can get one?

Here's a link to the JZR pilot's association. My friend has one which I drove a few month's back. The nightmares have almost stopped now. In truth it was great fun, just took a little getting used to.

It was only a week ago that I got wind of the fact that PistonHeads were discussing the affairs of Kit Car magazine, whereupon I made a most undignified entry onto the scene. Since then, I’ve become something of a pest with my incessant rants on a subject that is clearly of more interest to me than to you.
Through the exchanges, I would like to think that I’ve come to know you better and I hope the feeling is reciprocal. However, I believe that (yet again) I’ve probably overstated my case and am going to back-off. It’s very, very clear to me that you are intelligent rational people who, when in possession of the facts, are clearly capable of drawing your own conclusions.
If it’s OK with you I’m going to sign-off and check-out of the threads which have been so emotive to me. I’ll post only when either asked or when there’s a point requiring factual information. I’ll keep these emotive issues out of other threads too. However, I would like to continue making contributions of fact and opinion to other threads and it would be handy if I could ‘pump’ you for information from time to time. Does that sound OK to everybody?
Finally, today is the deadline to get your address to me if you’d like a free copy of Kit Car October issue to discuss amongst yourselves. Having said that, you will be hearing from me because I’m sure you’ll be asking questions – won’t you?
As I said in an earlier posting, my position within Kit Car magazine has been commercial rather than journalistic. For that reason I’ve not had any dealings with Coram. However, I shall enquire of those within my organization who are ‘in the know’ and get back to you with such information as I’m able to dig up.
Please give me a few days because the copy deadline for the October issue rapidly approaches and we’re running late due to it being holiday season. I certainly don’t want to be sending excuses instead of magazines.
