Mk5 1.4 TSI GT Sport 140bhp
Discussion
Have been offered a new one of these at a cracking price on a 2 year deal. Just wondered if anyone has had a shot of this new Turbo and Supercharged 1.4 engine.
I know there are two varients, being the 140bhp and the 170bhp, unfortunately the cheap one is the 140bhp version, however comes in nice GT Sport trim.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Dave

I've got the 170bhp TDI model, which has been a very good all-rounder and I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
Sorry haven't got any experience of the 1.4 petrol unit but it seems to get good reviews from what I have read.
I would allow for the armrest and highline computer options if possible, and personally would option the MFSW (multi-function steering wheel) and cruise control if you do a fair amount of motorway miles.
If you don't mind me asking what deal have you been offered so far on the car?

I have the 140 TDI model and would highly recommend the GT Sport. I test drove the 170 TSI and liked it very much but couldn't get it as the insurance was too high for a company car
I think with current petrol vs diesel prices I'd get the 140 (or 170) TSI
To reiterate what others have said, definately get the armrest, it's unobtrusive decent quality. I've also got the highline which is useful.
Finally test the stereo out, I was a bit fussy about the standard RCD300 (now 310) and upgraded to the RCD500 (now 510!) for the better amplifier
