New Car Tax Rules
Discussion
Right, maybe someone can help me out here. I'm trying to get my head around the new tax rules that come in thanks to that t
t Alistar (check out my eybrows) Darling.
My 04 cv8 registered in march 05 comes under the current F band as it was registered before 23/3/06 and therefor pay £210 every year. So how much will I be paying come next year.....the highest price one of £440? or does this only apply to new cars?
Talk about confusing!

It'll be top band from next year, so yes £440.00. Had Darling not decided to broaden the net to cars manufactured from 2001 we would have been ok. Sadly, there's no sign of him backing off this yet and still no definate moves on holding back on the 2p a litre rise on fuel in September.
The banding is not based on engine size, it's based on manufacturers emission figures which began to be shown on V5's from 2001. So, some smaller engined cars built in 2001 could 'in theory' be in the same band as our 5.7/6.0 cars!

I think you had better get one of your company vehicles, point it at a certain building and put your finger on the red button!!!!............
